2012 Reserva, Vincent Henry’s Vineyard Barbera
Estate Barrel #1 !
This inaugural vintage from the Langman Estate Vineyard is named after our family patriarch. Our hero, and the most decent man we have ever known. We started with raw land in 2009. South facing, well draining crushed granite soiled vineyard at 2,400 feet of elevation in the Sierra Foothills that has diurnal temperatures of 90 during the day and 58 at night and does not see rain nor humidity above 20% for 7 month a year. In 2010 we planted vine clones and root stock specifically chosen for the terroir of our vineyard by our winemaker, vineyard manager, UC Davis, and the vineyard nursery. We literally picked only the best parts of the grape bunches for the very small inaugural 2012 harvest. These were the only grapes ready to make great wine at the end of the 3rd year of vineyard growth. We open a bottle every 6 months, and this wine just keeps getting better! There will never be another Barrel #1 for the Langman Estate Winery. It, Begins!
